Manchester is a thriving musical community at the moment, the fact we’re not re-visiting the Meandyou collective for their Smallville party with Lawrence & Julius Steinhoff on the same evening speaks volumes for the choice in the city at the moment.
Following last month’s disco bonanza with Daniel Wang, the Naive Melody crew have pulled another cracker out the hat as they welcome Irish man John Daly for his Manchester debut at Charlie’s.
John Daly’s long player ‘Sea and Sky’ has not left my car’s CD player this year, so much in fact that road rage is a thing of the past for me. I can’t think of a mix of done recently that has not featured at least one track of his, ‘This is a Lonely Beat’ on Drumpoet Community probably my pick of his work.
Making a name for himself in recent years on Francois K’s legendary ‘Wave’ imprint, his dubbed out grooves for IRR, Plak and his own label, ‘Feel Music’ have assured his sleek productions are in most DJ’s record boxes at the moment.
No stranger to the scene for the best of 13 years, with appearances at Panorama Bar in Berlin to Cielo in New York, his disco roots should stand him in good stead to follow in Daniel Wang’s footsteps.
John will be joined by residents, who in turn, have a fantastic mix doing the rounds at the moment courtesy of Polaroid in Leeds dapper podcast. Check it.
